Qatar F1 spectacle a sell-out as LCSC gets ready for record turnout 

DOHA, Qatar – The Lusail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC) is set to welcome sell-out crowds at the FORMULA 1 OOREDOO QATAR GRAND PRIX 2021. 

With the country set to host the first ever F1 race – the 20th round of the 2021 World Championship – the popular venue will welcome spectators from Friday, a top racing official said on Thursday. 

Abdulrahman Al Mannai, President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), said all arrangements have been completed at LCSC where fans will watch practice sessions on Friday, the official Qualifying session on Saturday and the Race on Sunday. 

F1 star Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and the championship leader Max Verstappen of Red Bull will renew their battle for championship points under lights this weekend. Both have arrived in Doha from Sao Paulo where they featured in the Brazilian Grand Prix last Sunday. 

“Qatar is ready to host the first ever F1 race in front of a capacity crowd. We will have completely full grandstands come race day and this is a testament to the huge appeal of F1. We are excited to see such a record number of fans at a motor sport event in Qatar,” Al Mannai said in an interview with the press on Thursday. 

“We have been hosting motor racing events at LCSC for many years but this weekend’s event will go down in history as the one with the biggest turnout. I am sure the fans will enjoy what should be a spectacular weekend of practice sessions, Saturday’s Official Qualifying session and Race Day on Sunday,” Al Mannai added. 

“We can safely say the atmosphere inside the venue will be electric. We can already feel the buzz as the F1 teams prepare for the first free practice session on Friday. There’s a lot of activity right now and the buzz will simply get bigger with each passing hour,” the QMMF President added. 

In addition to the on-track action, all fans will have access to specific Fan Zones where many entertainment activities have been planned. Race attendees can also visit food courts that offer a wide variety of cuisines and there are F1 merchandising outlets for fans to purchase racing memorabilia. Giant screens are installed in each zone and racegoers will be entertained with an air show on all three days of the race weekend.
